American flag under attack: New Mexico student told to remove flag from dorm room

Friday, October 30, 2015 by

Bobby Schofield, a University of New Mexico (UNM) student, has become the latest victim in the war of ideologies, as he was ordered to remove his American flag from the window of his dorm room. The school’s Residence Hall Handbook stipulates that “room decorations are to be in the interior of your room and may not extend into public spaces, including the hallway side of your room door.” The UNM’s Housing Guide further specifies that “banners or signs hung from your exterior windows are prohibited.”

This type of rationale, of determining policy based on the whims of political correctness, has successfully infiltrated most higher education institutions across the country. And though situations like this flagrantly go against the First Amendment and protected expressions of speech and ideas, it has quickly become the rallying banner for every self-identifying persecuted minority who wants to adopt a victim mentality, all the while drinking the kool-aid from Howard Zinn’s manifesto.
