Just when you thought people couldn’t get any stupider, a Manhattan aunt is suing her nephew after he excitedly jumped into her arms four years ago when he was eight-years-old, breaking her wrist. Now the human resources manager wants the young boy to pay up!
Jennifer Connell, 54, is seeking $127,000 in damages, claiming “little Sean Tarala, now 12, should have known better than to jump into her arms as a means of welcoming her to his birthday party in 2011,” reports ctpost.com.
“Jennifer Connell claims the boy, Sean Tarala of Westport, acted unreasonable when he leaped into her arms, causing her to fall on the ground and break her wrist four years ago. This week Connell is asking a six-member Superior Court jury to find the boy liable for his actions.”

Adding misery to heartache, the little boy’s mother passed away last year, according to reports.
The little boy appeared confused as he sat with his father, Michael Tarala, in the Main Street courtroom” on October 9.
Connell testified before Judge Edward Stodolink that her nephew is always “very loving, sensitive” toward her; however, that didn’t stop her from suing her own flesh and blood, and a child at that.
It all started more than four years ago on March 18, 2011 when Connell arrived at the little boy’s home to celebrate his birthday. Life was good in the little boy’s world as he enjoyed his birthday gifts, one of them being a bright-red two-wheeler, which he gleefully rode around the home, according to testimony.
Upon seeing his aunt, “he dropped the new bicycle on the ground, exclaiming, ‘Auntie Jen, Auntie Jen,’” Ctpost reports.
“All of a sudden he was there in the air, I had to catch him and we tumbled onto the ground,” Connell testified of her encounter with the 50-pound boy. “I remember him shouting, ‘Auntie Jen I love you,’ and there he was flying at me.”
The aunt says she was immediately hurt but refrained from saying anything as she reportedly “didn’t want to upset” him at his birthday party.
However, life’s tough for a Manhattan woman with no kids, who told the court that “her life was turned upside down as a result of the injury.”
“I live in Manhattan in a third-floor walk-up so it has been very difficult,” she said. “And we all know how crowded it is in Manhattan.”
Connell complains that the injury has even impacted her social life as she was unable to carry hors d’oeuvres at a party.
“The injuries, losses and harms to the plaintiff were caused by the negligence and carelessness of the minor defendant in that a reasonable eight year old under those circumstances would know or should have known that a forceful greeting such as the one delivered by the defendant to the plaintiff could cause the harms and losses suffered by the plaintiff,” claims the lawsuit.
The lawsuit certainly hasn’t won Connell any popularity. Here’s how people are reacting on Twitter:
